For normal training sessions, wrestlers should wear:

Comfortable Pants

Track pants or leggings. No jeans on the mat.

Plain T-Shirt

Simple, close-fitting, nothing that can catch or snag.

Wrestling Shoes

Worn on the mat only — keep them off the rest of the floor.

Before Stepping on the Mat

All jewellery and accessories must be removed before training starts:

  • Necklaces
  • Earrings
  • Rings

  • Watches
  • Any other accessories

Simple, safe clothing and equipment help prevent injuries — and don't forget a water bottle filled with water.

What to Bring for Competitions

On competition day, wrestlers must bring:

Wrestling Shoes

Laced up and ready for weigh-in through to the final match.

Two Singlets

One red, one blue.

Towel

For between matches and after weigh-in.

Clear Water Bottle

See-through bottle, water only.

Food & Snacks

To keep energy levels up through a long competition day.

No Exceptions on Competition Day

No jewellery, watches, or sharp objects are allowed once weigh-ins begin.

Competition Day, Step by Step

Here's how the day usually unfolds, from arrival to the wrestler's next match.

1

Arrive on time for weigh-ins

Get there early in the morning with short nails, dressed in wrestling kit.

2

Line up for weigh-in

Stand in the weigh-in rows in your wrestling costume when called.

3

Complete the medical check

Wait to be called, then go through the medical check.

4

Lace up and prepare

Once medical is done, put on wrestling shoes and get ready to wrestle.

5

Track the draws

Follow match times on the ETMS website, or use the Wrestling Bot on WhatsApp to see when your wrestler is up next.

6

Be matside early

Aim to be at the mat 3–5 matches before your wrestler's bout. Bring the clear water bottle along in case he needs water during the match.

Good to know: the number of matches on the day depends on how many wrestlers are in a given weight category — there's no guaranteed fixed number of bouts. Speak to the coach; he'll help you understand how the draws work and how the day is likely to look.
